Ted Jones
Ted Jones was born in Dublin in 1951 and though he had no formal art education, he came to be interested in art and drawing through the guidance of his father who worked as a groundskeeper to Trinity College. After leaving school aged 12 he found employment as a laboratory assistant at Trinity before joining the army at 16. However, he always held the desire to paint and so in 1979 he decided to pursue this as a career. Being a self-taught artist and having a military background has helped him develop his unique unencumbered and disciplined style.
Demand for Jones’ works has been so high that a collection of signed limited edition prints were published in 1998, many of which have accumulated a worth 10 times their original price. In 2005 he held a one-man show in Killarney Art Gallery which sold out in a matter of hours and in 2006 a signed limited edition book on his life was published called A Life, Wrapped Up.
