Smile: Niall's caricature of the royal couple, and Amy and Brian.
2011: ARTIST DOES ROARING TRADE FROM (ALMOST PICTURE PREFECT COUPLE. 'The Diary' - Irish Independent 2011.
There will be no escape from the royal wedding on April 29 (2011). But one Irish artist has turned the nuptials at Westminister Abbey into a money spinner. At £40 (eur45), Dunboyne artist Niall O'Loughlin is doing a roaring trade in royal caricatures. "I did them for a wedding fair then put them on my website. I was amazed when I started getting all these orders in from the UK, "Niall told The Diary. Even more amazing is, on closer inspection, when you notice Niall has cheekily sneaked Princess Di into the sparkler on Kat's wedding ring.
However one couple which will be getting a free copy of the work is Brian O'Driscoll and Amy Huberman, captured here previously by Niall, who have turned down an invitation to the royal wedding as Brian's Leinster team is playing in a Heineken Cup semi-final on the same weekend. Asked how his partner had taken the news, Brian joked: "Amy is okay about it. It's not as if she wasn't able to get out of bed this morning."
Niall O'Loughlin's work can be seen in the Balla Bán Gallery in the Westbury Mall, Clarendon Street, Dublin.
